  SJR East-woods is the layout where I reside in Bangalore. The Sunbirds are also known as the cousins of the humming bird. The sunbirds have a slightly bigger body and a smaller beak compared to its cousin. There are three types of Sunbirds found in Bangalore - Purple Sunbird Purple Rumped Sunbird Loten’s Sunbird Due to the lush green and diverse flora present in our layout we are fortunate to see all three varieties in this Mini Biological Park known as Eastwood. The Purple Sunbird is more commonly seen compared to the other two and the Loten’s   Sunbird being the most rarely seen. These birds are very active in the mornings and evenings   and are easy to observe. They can be frequently seen near Hibiscus and Ixora plants as they love the nectar from these beautiful flowering plants.
